Modeling, simulating, and analyzing (M&S&A) flight dynamics of missiles, aircraft, and hypersonic vehicles requires multi-disciplinary skills in aerodynamics, propulsion, guidance, and control. This three-day Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis of Aerospace Vehicles Training highlights 6 DoF modeling techniques, introduces computer tools, and teaches.

This workshop transfers hands-on experience to build, execute, and analyze high-fidelity aerospace simulations. Some of the topics include: modeling flight dynamics with tensors, coordinate systems, 6 DoF equations of motion, aerodynamic modeling, autopilots, navigation, guidance, and control. These topics will be taught using missiles, aircraft, and hypersonic vehicles modeled in C++ computer simulations. CADAC++ is complimentary and the C++ compiler is a free download from Microsoft.

CADAC++ serves as the simulation architecture. It supports multi-object programming, event sequencing, and Monte Carlo analysis. Plotting and post processing is provided by CADAC Studio. Participants should bring Microsoft Windows compatible lap top computer (administrative privilege required) with Microsoft Visual C++ compiler installed (Express version is a free download from Microsoft, but only for private computers). CADAC++, CADAC Studio and the four prototype simulations will be provided at the start of the course.
